"Where it's OK to be a Conservative"

It's Time to Take a Stand!

Sign The Petition Today!

Here is a great way for you to get involved in protecting the constitution, and your second amendment
rights. As we all watch Democrats like Dianne Feinstein try to limit our right to own and bear arms,
many have asked what can I do to make a difference? The answer is simple, go toHands Off Our Guns
today and sign the petition. This will send a strong message to politicians on both sides of the aisle that
the American people will not stand by and watch our rights infringed upon by those who have been
elected to defend these very rights. Certainly the recent tragedies have added an emotional element to
this debate, but the United States Constitution is not about emotion. The second amendment is about
self protection from criminal elements, and tyranny. Join the fight today, and show Washington that we
will not stand for this!

Wisconsin Veterans Benefit from Conservative Policies

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker CPAC Speech

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker CPAC Speech

When Scott Walker was inaugurated on January 3, 2011 as Wisconsin’s 45th Governor, he inherited a
multitude of problems. Perhaps the biggest challenge he faced was a projected budget deficit of $3.6
billion dollars. In a state where property taxes had been rising for several consecutive years, Governor
Walker was forced to find a solution that didn’t place an even heavier burden directly on to homeowners.

Part of his solution was the passage of the landmark “budget repair bill,” that created a firestorm of
controversy around the country. While the big unions were lamenting how the bill was aimed at hurting the
middle class by restricting the ability to bargain collectively, the end result was that many public sector union
members were now required to contribute more towards their own pensions and healthcare benefits. In many
cases these employees are still only contributing at a rate which is half the national average of their counterparts
in the private sector. And now after the dust has settled, the recall elections a distant memory, Wisconsin veterans
are beginning to reap the benefits of this fiscally conservative approach to solving the states financial woes.

Last month Mr. Walker announced several veterans’ related initiatives totaling $43.3 million dollars as part
of his new budget proposal. These expenditures are aimed at helping Wisconsin veterans find employment,
improve educational opportunities, and hire 110 full-time direct care staff at the King Veterans’ Home. In 2012
the Governor told the residents of his state “The freedoms we hold dear were endowed by our Creator and
upheld by our constitution, but it is the members of our Armed Forces – past and present – who protect those
freedoms each day. We are eternally grateful.” Those words are now being backed by strong action.

Live Coverage From CAPC

The Conservative Political Action Conference

If you missed our live coverage of the 2013 CPAC conference, simply visit the show archives tab for great
interviews with Col. Allen West, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, NRA President David Keene, FreedomWorks
CEO Matt Kibbe, publisher/editor Crystal Wright, and many other leading conservatives.

The Conservative Political Action Conference is hosted by the American Conservative Union Foundation. Since
it’s inception in 1971, CPAC has hosted some of the biggest names in the conservative movement, and this
year was no different.

This year’s event showed an enthusiastic youth movement, along with a strong push for diversity within the
GOP. Allen West’s “Guardian Fund” and Crystal Wright’s “Conservative Melting Pot PAC” were shining examples
of the current efforts that prove you don’t have to sacrifice conservative principles in order to increase minority numbers. There were a total of 11 black conservatives who were featured on stage at this year’s event. Of
course one of the biggest aspects of CPAC is the straw poll. This year the winner was Senator Rand Paul who
certainly got a boost for his filibuster just prior to the conference.

The Use of the "Bully Pulpit"

February 23, 2013 By Don Smith

While the term “bully pulpit” was first used by President Theodore Roosevelt as a way to describe a platform
utilized to push forward an agenda, the phrase has taken on a far more sinister meaning under the
Barack Obama administration. Certainly presidents have used their position as the leader of the free world
to advocate policies even before there was an official idiom for the process, but as recent guest Ben Shapiro
stated on my program a few weeks ago, “Barack Obama has taken bullying to a whole new level.”

Who could forget the whole issue surrounding the release of the birth certificate? Even if you take the core
issue of whether or not he was born in America out of the equation, the issue was utilized as a way to
demonize those who felt that the release of this document was a reasonable request. That belief immediately
bore you the label “birther.”

Facebook, take this: Tea Party Community site launches as an alternative

February 2, 2013 By Don Smith

Conservatives now have an alternative to Facebook, and it’s gaining serious momentum.
Tea Party Community is being launched by Ken Crow, and his partners Tim Selaty Jr., and Tim Selaty Sr.,
who are responding to recent complaints of censorship being levied against Facebook by members who post
conservative-leaning content.

Just two weeks ago my friend, actress and comedian Victoria Jackson, was banned by Facebook for making a
post regarding her pro-life views. Certainly many of us recall the “Kill Mitt Romney” page that was allowed to
remain intact, even after many users reported it. So how can conservatives feel comfortable expressing
themselves on a social platform that appears to only allow free speech from those with whom they agree?

Perhaps they can’t. Crow and his partners seem to have created a new platform where conservatives and Tea
Party members will be able to express their thoughts without the fear of being temporarily suspended, or even
banned permanently in some cases.

Steven Crowder on Marriage

A man's top 5 reasons to grow up and get married

By Steven Crowder Published January 26, 2013 - FoxNews.com

Six months ago, I wrote a column here at FoxNews regarding the fact that my wife and I made the choice to
wait until marriage. Some people claimed offense. As per usual, I’m okay with that.

Here’s why; I’m pro-marriage. I always have been, always will be and I’ll make no apologies for it. As a matter
of fact, most of you should be apologizing to me. Yeah, I said it. Whether you're one with a successful marriage
who's remained silent on its myriad virtues, or merely a single, lonely critic... America, you've got some 'splaining
to do.

Sadly, marriage has become a punchline in today’s society. From referring to the wife as “the old ball and chain”
to nearly every poorly written sitcom that we watch, the message we’re sending to today’s generation is
clear… Marriage = no fun.

Dealing With the Unemployed Veterans Issue

While the veteran unemployment rate has failed to improve, one organization is working hard at helping our
military heroes. All American Veterans is a new organization that is offering veterans an opportunity to start
new businesses. If this sounds like an incredible concept to you, former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim
Nicholson would agree. Don Smith discussed this new organization with Mr. Nicholson at the Republican
National Convention.

Since the convention, this organization is now in full operation, and has just started the first fundraising event in
the month of January. Perhaps the only organization that pays no salaries, AAVS ensures that 100 percent of all
money donated goes directly to helping veterans. In addition to this being a tax deductable donation, you can
also win great prizes, like several autographed items from Ted Nugent, to books by several award winning
authors. There are also $50 gift certificates from organizations such as Pro-Flowers, Cherry Moon Farms, and
many others. Do something nice for a veteran today, make a contribution to start a veteran live their own
American Dream. You can do this today at allamericanvets.com.

Major Garrett on Leaving Fox News
Immediately following the Paul Ryan speech at the RNC, I walked back to the convention center with Major Garrett, formerly of Fox News. Major was excited about the Ryan speech, saying it “was the best convention speech he’s ever heard.” After we finished talking about the evening’s line-up, I asked why he left Fox News. Mr. Garrett said that he truly wanted to go back to his “true love,” of covering the news as a writer. Although he enjoyed his time at Fox, Major says he is as happy as he’s ever been to be working at The National Journal. He also stated that it was really nice to have goin out “on top.”

If you’re wondering why this is current news, here’s why. As you know by now, Major Garrett was named Chief Whitehouse Correspondent for CBS News just months after this conversation. I can’t help but look back at what seemed to be a very honest discussion and wonder how somebody could have such a significant change of heart, in such a short period of time. It would be hard to imagine that it was a monetary decision, but one never knows. As for me, I’m simply going to chalk it up to just another example of why we simply can’t trust the MSM on anything!
